Hospice recognizes dying as a normal process and it neither hastens nor postpones death.
Hospice reflects a spirit and philosophy of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity for the dying. Hospice seeks to enhance the dying person’s quality of life and provide support for family and other caregivers. It is an interdisciplinary approach designed to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of people in the last phase of life.
Hospice services may be provided wherever the person resides, be it private home, nursing home or assisted living facility.
Medicare Part A, most private insurances, Medicaid and private donations, covers hospice services.
