Dentistry as you knew it:
Traditional dental care diagnoses oral health problems, such as cavities and gum disease, and treats them by removing the damaged tissue and making the needed repairs with fillings or other treatment. Traditional dental care recommends 6 month check-up with cleanings, fluoride treatments and x-rays, along with teaching the child to brush and floss properly.
Todays standard of dental care is to treat the problem after it happens. At Kidds Dental, we believe in a different approach. We believe that many of our patients parents understand that the health of the mouth cannot be separated from the health of the rest of the body. Over the last few years,a rather large body of research has emerged supporting this understanding.
The objective is to find the disease and treat it locally. The diseased cavity and other damaged tissues are removed, the tooth is filled or other treatment is applied, depending on the severity of the problem. Kidds Dental provides this standard of care for every child.

The Whole-Body Path to Oral Health
Kidds Dental offers a second level of dentistry that searches for any and all problems contributing to oral disease and the whole bodys well-being, health and nutritional status. Whole-body oral health involves analyzing what is going on in the rest of the body to help understand why the oral health is being compromised.
This second level involves standard dental procedures as well as minimal intervention approaches for repairing diseased teeth and gums. This level extends beyond the typical adage, brush, floss, and things will improve.
The whole-body oral health approach has two separate parts; the first is to focus on controlling the bacteria responsible for the problem with antibacterial and remineralization products in the mouth. The second step goes beyond the usual aspects of dental care and focuses on determining causes that can upset the balance of oral health. Evaluating the health of the whole body can reveal even more answers regarding oral health problems.
