Notice to Master Card Credit Card holders:
On October 18, 2010 we were notified that MasterCard will process tobacco purchases using a Master Card only if we pay a $1,000.00 per year fee. We have chosen not to succumb to this ridiculous policy and can no longer accept a Master Card in payment of our products.
My eMail to www.OutwestTobacco.com customers about this:
This eMail has some specific information for our customers who have previously used MasterCard for purchases from www.OutwestTobacco.com.
I also feel that all of our customers should be aware of what is going on, so bear with me and read on.
To our customers who have been using MasterCard to purchase tobacco products from us:
I feel this is excessive, that it is extortion and I have chosen not to meet their demand.
The following are actual replies to my eMail to Outwest Tobacco customers. The names have been removed to protect the innocent!.........
"Just wanted you to know that I whole heartily support your decision, and in the future will use my Visa Card. In fact I may review my use of MasterCard entirely.

From the book "The Ultimate Pipe Book " by Richard Carleton Hacker...........
"...These pipe smoking contests are billed as "the slowest race in the world" and are held throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan. The world's first pipe smoking contest was held in the 18th century in the Oxford Theater in London. The winner received 12 shillings for first prize, but there is no record of his actual time. Today, pipe smoking contests are especially popular in Europe, where World Cup championships are held annually in various countries and hosted by local pipe clubs.Unlike many pipe smoking contests in the U.S., where cube cut Burley is often mandated, these annual European contests usually use a commercially blended tobacco of the hosting country or a sponsoring company. Thus, some rather spectacular times are possible. Yet using only Burley, the best U.S. time is 2 hours, 6 minutes and 39 seconds, established in 1975 by William Vargo of Swartz Creek, Michigan."
