R House Child Care & Preschool has been in existence since 1993. It was started as an in home facility, which grew into a mixed age group facility and then into two facilities. While offering a home away from home atmosphere we also offer a state of the art Preschool program written by Rhonda Williamson. We teach the basics by using repetition during our circle time and include a project that corresponds with the weekly theme and/or letter of the week. We also offer a separate extended learning time to build necessary life skills such as self confidence, open communication, problem solving skills, manners, personal boundaries, acceptance, openness, dealing with conflict, forgiveness, courtesy and respect. Most importantly we never forget the importance of playing, laughing, sharing, caring and FUN! R Houses learning goal is to progress a child before kindergarten academically to the first grade, so socially and emotionally they can adapt to the atmosphere being ahead mentally.
We are a boundary based facility. We wish to set children up to succeed in this world not fail; therefore we teach them there are rules and laws of our society as well as a part of their classroom. There are consequences for their actions, both positive and negative. Helping them learn boundaries and self control, builds their self confidence as well as gives them comfort and security. They know and understand where the boundaries are, therefore they can concentrate on growing in a positive atmosphere. Physical or verbal misconduct is not allowed. We use our manners as well as require courtesy and respect. We have a discipline policy (located on our policies page) but we also utilize positive directives to reinforce positive behavior. We are never demeaning or degrading in our discipline. We utilize facial expression, sound effects that show our emotion and discussion before and after the consequence is carried out. We DO NOT utilize corporal punishment. Under certain circumstances and repetitive negative behavior, their conduct may lead to a special talk with Miss Rhonda and/or a phone call to a parent. We will always keep you informed of your childs behavior during the day utilizing our "How Was My Day" board.
